"Stone House is an ideal place to stop off for a tea/coffee and slice of fruit cake (with Wensleydale cheese). There's always a roaring fire and lots of places to sit and have a quiet chat."
"A very warm welcome awaited us and continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble; there was plenty of entertainment for those who wished to join in, Staff were wonderful and very friendly. By the end of the break we were all saying goodbye and see you again next year."
"It's warm (very important in November when it's snowing). It's friendly (very important when you want to relax and enjoy your stay).
The food is excellent - a short dinner menu, a great cook, excellent ingredients, and probably the best breakfast I've had in any hotel anywhere - nothing dramatic, just excellently well done (all very important)."
"What a lovely place to stay! Dogs are welcome, walkers and cyclists catered for with a drying and cleaning facilities and really very nice food! Oh and of course the walking is fabulous."
"This family run small hotel is just about perfect- the staff are friendly, the food first class and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Oak room is a relaxing common room with a open fire and there is a games room with snooker and a library to browse."
"Sadly we only had one night in this lovely hotel. We stayed in room 1, a grand 4-poster room with lovely views a cosy seating area. My dad stayed in a ground floor conservatory room. Both spotless and comfortable. Dinner was fantastic, as was breakfast. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly."
"My husband and I plus Molly the dog have just returned from a short break at the Stone House Hotel and we had a fabulous time. Both the hotel and the staff were amazing and the food was superb and our precious dog was made so welcome."
